What learning in Uxbridge teaches you

Uxbridge sits at the end of the A40 with the M25 just beyond, so lessons here mix fast merges, long-running roadworks and a busy town centre.

Hillingdon Circus and the A40

Long Lane crosses the A40 at Hillingdon Circus, with long slip roads on and off. Joining a fast dual carriageway at the right speed, and leaving it in good time for the roundabout at the bottom, are skills you will use on every journey into London.

HS2 works around Ickenham

HS2 construction has brought temporary lights, lane closures and heavy lorries to roads around Swakeleys and Ickenham. Examiners expect you to read temporary signs as calmly as permanent ones, and this is where you get the practice.

Uxbridge Road and Hillingdon Hill

The A4020 climbs from Hillingdon into Uxbridge with buses, side roads and shop fronts all the way. It is where we work on hill starts in traffic, meeting buses and judging gaps at junctions.

Around Brunel and Kingston Lane

At the start of term the roads around the campus fill with pedestrians and cyclists, and Brunel says parking on and around the campus is tightly restricted. We agree a safe pickup point near your halls rather than stopping where we shouldn’t.
