The nine centres our learners use most, with DVSA’s latest pass rates, how many tests are taken in an automatic, how long the wait is, and the 2026 booking rules.
These are DVSA’s own figures for the centres our learners use, not estimates. Across Great Britain, half of all car tests were passes and fewer than a third were taken in an automatic. Most centres near us run well above that automatic share.

| Pinner | 49.7% | 47.6% | 50% | 23.1 weeks |

Source: DVSA, car driving test data by test centre. Pass rates and automatic figures cover April 2025 to March 2026 (tables DRT122A and DRT122E). Waits are the median weeks between booking and taking the test for people tested in September 2026 (table DRT122F, provisional, published 14 October 2026). Waits move a lot from month to month, so treat them as a snapshot. Every centre except Mill Hill was at the 24-week maximum on DVSA’s measure of how far ahead a tenth of each week’s appointments are still free. Checked 2 November 2026.
The test centre inside the borough of Harrow, and the busiest on this page: 14,367 tests in 2025/26, half of them in an automatic. Learners from Harrow and Wembley test here. It also had the longest wait on this page in September 2026.
A busy route with multi-lane roundabouts and dual carriageways. Just over half its tests are in an automatic, the highest share on this page. Learners from Hendon, Golders Green and north Wembley test here.
Quieter residential roads mixed with faster A-roads. In September 2026 it was the only centre on this page where a tenth of a week’s appointments were still free inside the 24-week booking window (from week 19).
The lowest pass rate of the centres on this page in 2025/26 (41.4%), and 36.9% for women. Learners from Greenford, Northolt, Ealing and Wembley test here. Arrive with mock tests behind you rather than hoping for an easy route.
The test centre in the borough of Hounslow, with town-centre driving, box junctions and one-way systems near the river. Learners from Hounslow, Isleworth and Chiswick test here; 44% of its tests are in an automatic.
On Allenby Road. Learners from Southall, Ealing, Hayes and Hounslow test here. Its automatic pass rate (41.7%) is lower than its manual one (46.7%), so an automatic is not an easier test here, only an easier car to learn in.
Off Willow Tree Lane. Hayes no longer has its own test centre (DVSA lists it as closed), so this is where learners from Hayes and Northolt test. It had the highest pass rate on this page in 2025/26.
Off Cowley Mill Road, for learners from Uxbridge, Hillingdon and west Hayes. Just over half its candidates passed in 2025/26.
Demanding North London routes with heavy traffic and complex junctions, for learners further east of our patch.
Many West London areas have no centre of their own, even though people search for one. This is where learners from each area usually take their test.
Not by name. The borough of Ealing has two: Greenford (Horsenden Lane) and Southall. Most Ealing learners test at one of them.
Yes, though it is called Pinner. Some learners in south Harrow choose Greenford instead.
No. Wembley learners test at Greenford, Pinner, Hendon or Mill Hill.
Yes: Isleworth (Fleming Way), which is in the borough of Hounslow.
Not any more. DVSA lists the Hayes centre as closed; learners from Hayes now test at Yeading, or at Uxbridge.
None of the three has a centre. Most test at Isleworth (Fleming Way) or Greenford.
DVSA changed the booking rules in three stages this year. They matter more in London, where most centres are full months ahead.
Only you can book, change or cancel your test (since 12 May 2026). Your instructor can’t do it for you, and that includes us. Apps and websites that scan for cancellations are not allowed.
Two changes per booking (since 31 March 2026). Changing the date and the centre together counts as one. After two, you cancel and book again; you get a full refund with at least 10 working days’ notice.
You can only move your test to one of the three centres nearest the one you booked (since 9 June 2026). So the centre you book first matters: choose the one you actually mean to use.
Add your instructor’s reference number when you book. It makes sure your instructor is free on the day, and it doesn’t count as a change. Ask your WLDS instructor for theirs before you book.

Testing somewhere else? Our instructors also take learners to other centres across West and North London. Availability varies by instructor, so get in touch and we’ll match you with someone who knows your centre.
We teach on the exact roads you’ll be tested on. Book a lesson and start building real familiarity.
