How much does the franchise cost?
Your first month is free. After that it is a flat £195 a month — about £45 a week, which is less than a single hour of tuition at the standard £47.50 rate. To start after the free month there is a one-off £326.49, which is the headboard (£104, refundable when you return it in good condition), 250 branded business cards (£27.49) and your first month’s fee (£195). Twice a year you get a free week of franchise as a loyalty reward.
Do you take commission on my lessons?
No. Not on one lesson, not on a block booking, not on an intensive course. The £195 is the whole of what you pay us. Your pupils pay you directly, so there is no middleman holding your money and no waiting to be paid out.
Will I actually be given pupils?
That is the point of the free month — you get to see the real volume before you pay anything. Bookings come from our website straight into your calendar, and there is no cap on how many you take. What we will not do is promise you a number: pupil flow moves with the season and with how much availability you actually open up. Try it for a month and judge it on what arrives.
Am I tied into a contract?
No lock-in. You can leave on 28 days’ notice at any point, and the first month costs you nothing at all, so the most you can ever be out of pocket for trying us is nothing. We would rather you stayed because it works than because you were trapped.
Can I keep my own pupils, or teach for another school as well?
Yes. You are self-employed and free to run your own independent tuition or work with another school, as long as you keep to the branding, pricing, non-solicitation and confidentiality terms in the agreement. Joining us does not mean giving up the business you have already built.
Do I need my own car?
Yes — a road-legal dual-control car with valid MOT, tax and proper instructor insurance. You are self-employed, so the vehicle, your insurance and your own tax and National Insurance are yours to arrange. We do not rent cars, and we do not take a slice of your earnings to pay for one.
What does the free month actually include?
Full access to bookings through the school’s website, into your own calendar, for a month at £0. During the trial you run on L-plates with no WLDS branding — the headboard and cards come after, if you decide to continue.
Are you looking for female driving instructors?
Yes, particularly. Learners ask us for a female instructor regularly and we cannot currently meet that demand — about one in four UK driving instructors is a woman, so the requests outstrip the supply industry-wide. Female ADIs and trainee PDIs join on exactly the same terms as everyone else: free first month, £195 a month, no commission. We are not offering women a different deal, just telling you plainly that the pupils are already asking.
I am a trainee PDI, not a full ADI. Can I join?
Yes — and we would like to hear from you. If you hold a pink trainee licence you can charge for lessons, so you can franchise with us exactly like a full ADI: same £195 a month, same free first month, same no-commission deal. Nobody charges you extra for being newly qualified.
A trainee licence lasts six months, and the hardest part of it is finding enough real pupils to be ready for Part 3 before it runs out. That is the thing we are actually good at.
