Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before booking lessons or purchasing any package with West London Driving School. By booking, you confirm that you have read and agreed to all the terms set out below.

Section 1

Payment

Pay-as-you-go lessons must be paid in advance — either at least one week prior to the scheduled lesson, or at the start of each lesson if paying by cash.
Block bookings and packages must be paid in full before lessons commence.
Where online card payment is offered on our website, payments are processed securely by Stripe. Your card is authorised when you book and only charged once your booking is confirmed by the instructor; if the booking is cancelled before confirmation, the authorisation is released and no money is taken.
Card payments for lessons with a participating instructor are received directly into that instructor’s own Stripe account. As all instructors operate as independent franchisees, the instructor — not West London Driving School — is the merchant for these transactions, and West London Driving School does not hold or control these funds at any point.
The availability of online card payment may vary by instructor and may be enabled or withdrawn by West London Driving School at any time. Payment directly to your instructor by cash or bank transfer is always available.

Section 2

Bookings

Students must confirm their bookings by replying to a confirmation text from their instructor, which may include payment details.
Lessons are typically scheduled for two hours unless otherwise agreed. One-hour sessions may be available at the instructor’s discretion.
Any booking made through our website (where electronic signatures are accepted), via phone call, text message, or messaging apps (e.g. WhatsApp), constitutes the student’s automatic agreement to West London Driving School’s Terms and Conditions. Both students and instructors are strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with these terms. Instructors may also request that students sign a physical copy of the Terms and Conditions for clarity and record-keeping purposes.

Section 3

Driver Requirements

Students must hold a valid UK provisional, full, or international driving licence and present it before their first lesson.
UK licence holders must provide a DVLA check code and provisional licence number at least 48 hours before the first lesson.

Section 4

Lesson Procedures

Your instructor will wait at the agreed location for a maximum of 20 minutes. After this time, the lesson will be considered a no-show and charged in full.
Lessons will start and end at the same location unless agreed otherwise in advance.

Section 5

Cancellations

Cancellations by Students

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson or driving test. Failure to do so will result in the full lesson fee being charged.
All cancellations must be communicated directly to your allocated instructor via phone call or text message. Emails or alternative communication methods may not be accepted — please clarify with your instructor.
Once a cancellation is requested, the lesson is considered cancelled. Instructors are not required to confirm or reiterate the cancellation policy.
A verbal or text acknowledgment may be sent by your instructor, but it is not a condition for the cancellation to take effect.

Cancellations by Instructors

While our instructors are not contractually obligated to provide 48 hours’ notice in the event of a lesson cancellation, West London Driving School is committed to fairness, transparency, and professional courtesy. We expect all instructors to notify students as early as possible should they be unable to attend a scheduled lesson. Where feasible, we promote a minimum of 48 hours’ notice and encourage instructors to offer a suitable alternative appointment, subject to student availability.
Students are encouraged to discuss their expectations around cancellations, lateness, and refunds with their instructor prior to commencing lessons.
All West London Driving School instructors are required to follow our Code of Conduct to ensure high standards and accountability.

Section 6

Your Right to Cancel — 14 Days

This section sets out a legal right you have. It applies in addition to everything else in these terms, and nothing elsewhere in this document reduces it.

Because you book and pay through our website, without meeting us face to face first, your booking is a distance contract. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days, starting the day after your booking is confirmed. You do not need to give a reason.

How to cancel. Tell us clearly, in writing, before the 14 days are up. Email info@westlondondrivingschool.com or write to West London Driving School, 62 Gloucester Gardens, London W2 6BN. A short message saying you wish to cancel is enough — you may use the form at the end of this section, but you do not have to.
If you have had no lessons. You get a full refund, with no deductions of any kind. The £30 administration fee and the monthly refund timetable described in Section 7 do not apply.
If you asked us to start within the 14 days. You may still cancel, and you will pay only a proportionate amount for the lessons actually taken, charged at our standard hourly rate. The rest is refunded.
When the right ends. If the service is fully performed within the 14 days — for example a single lesson you asked us to deliver in that period — the right to cancel ends once that service has been completed, and only if you acknowledged this when booking. You will be asked to confirm both points at checkout.
When you get your money back. Within 14 days of us being told you wish to cancel, to the card or account you paid from.

Section 6

Refunds

At West London Driving School, we aim to deal with refund requests fairly and without argument. The specific rules below apply, and they never reduce your statutory right to cancel within 14 days (Section 6).

Refunds must be requested directly from the assigned franchisee instructor. Refund requests should not be made to West London Driving School’s head office.
For block bookings, refunds will be calculated based on the standard hourly rate for hours used. For example, if 10 hours were purchased and 4 used, the student will be charged for 4 hours at the standard rate and refunded the balance.
A £30 administration fee applies to discretionary refunds requested outside the 14-day statutory period. It is never deducted from a refund made under your right to cancel (Section 6), which is always paid in full.
Discretionary refunds are issued on the last Friday of each calendar month; requests made after the 15th are processed on the last Friday of the following month. Refunds under your statutory right to cancel are not batched — they are paid within 14 days of your cancellation, as Section 6 requires.
Intensive and semi-intensive courses (including those with a test booking) are non-refundable once the course has started, because the dates are reserved exclusively for you and the instructor turns other work away. Your 14-day statutory right to cancel (Section 6) still applies before the course begins.
Intensive courses — commitment and flexibility: your instructor will endeavour to fully commit to the dates and times published or agreed for your course. In the event of unforeseen circumstances or unplanned changes during the course, the instructor will endeavour to find replacement dates or times; students must remain reasonably flexible to accommodate these adjustments. Such adjustments do not give rise to a refund.
Fixed-date intensive courses booked from our website are secured by card authorisation and charged when the instructor confirms the booking. Once confirmed, the course is non-refundable as above.
For online card payments: where a booking is cancelled before it is confirmed, the card authorisation is simply released and no charge is made. Where a payment has been taken, any refund is issued by the merchant that received the payment — your instructor’s Stripe account for lessons with a participating instructor — back to the original payment card.
Instructors reserve the right to refuse the use of the training vehicle for a driving test if they believe the student is not test-ready. This decision is at the sole discretion of the DVSA-approved instructor.

Section 7

Credit Policy

All purchases (lessons, packages and courses) are converted into credit, measured in hours.
Credit is kept alive by taking lessons. The clock runs from your last completed lesson — or, if you have not yet taken one, from the date of purchase.
Dormant at three months. If three months pass without a completed lesson, your account is marked dormant and we will contact you.
Forfeiture at six months. If six months pass without a completed lesson, any credit still remaining may be forfeited. We will write to you before this happens, and the decision is made by your instructor — credit is never cancelled automatically.
Credit will not expire while you have a lesson booked and confirmed.
Your weekly slot is separate from your credit. Students who miss three consecutive weeks of a fixed weekly slot will forfeit that slot. You keep your credit; the time may be offered to another student.
No refunds are issued for forfeited credit.
These periods may be extended at our discretion — for example for illness, bereavement, or a break agreed in advance. Speak to your instructor.

Section 8

Gift Packages

Gift package purchases (subject to availability) are welcome and may be made without specifying an intended start date, time, or a designated instructor at the time of booking. Upon redemption, the scheduling of lessons is subject to instructor availability.
Depending on demand and instructor schedules, there may be a waiting period of approximately 1 to 3 months before lessons can commence. This allows time for the allocated instructor to create space in their diary and deliver lessons in a consistent and structured manner.
We recommend that recipients of gift packages redeem their lessons as early as possible to ensure timely scheduling and to avoid disappointment during peak periods.

Section 9

Liability

Students are fully liable for any damage caused to the vehicle or third parties if the insurance policy is rendered void due to illegal activity (e.g. driving under the influence), undisclosed medical conditions, or any other circumstances that fall within clauses which invalidate the insurance policy through no fault of the instructor.
Students are responsible for any fines or Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) incurred during their lesson.
Minor vehicle damage during lessons or tests may incur a charge between £40 and £250 depending on severity:

Kerbed or scuffed alloys: £40–£80 per wheel
Bumper scrapes or cracks: £80–£150
Scratches or dents to door panels: £100–£200
Minor bodywork or paint damage: £100–£250

All costs are estimated and subject to assessment. Charges are payable immediately or may be deducted from the student’s remaining credit.

Section 10

Medical & Legal

Students must meet DVSA eyesight requirements and notify their instructor of any medical conditions that may affect their driving ability.
Any changes to health or driving entitlement must be reported immediately.

Section 11

Test Day

Instructors may charge the full test day fee even if the DVSA cancels the test (e.g. due to weather or staff shortages).
Students are strongly advised to contact the test centre on the morning of their test if there are concerns about possible cancellations due to adverse conditions.

Prices

All prices are subject to change without prior notice.
Terms and conditions are subject to revision at any time. Where possible, notice will be provided.

Section 13

Disclaimer

All West London Driving School franchisee instructors are covered by fully comprehensive motor insurance, which includes cover for learner drivers during lessons and tests. Insurance documentation is verified and kept on record by West London Driving School headquarters to ensure compliance and student safety.

All instructors operating under West London Driving School do so as independent franchisees. All lesson bookings, payments, and agreements are between the student and their allocated instructor.

West London Driving School accepts no responsibility or liability for any matters — financial, legal, instructional, or otherwise — arising from the relationship between the student and their instructor.
