Manual lessons are taught by ADI-qualified instructors and experienced trainee instructors (PDIs) across West and Central London. They follow our six-stage syllabus at your pace, whether you are a complete beginner, coming back after a break, or polishing your driving before a test. Pass in a manual and you can drive both manual and automatic cars.

In an automatic there is no clutch or gears to manage, so you can put all your attention on the road, your position and your confidence. Lessons run across West and Central London to the same standard as manual, for any level of experience. Automatic costs the same £47.50 an hour as manual, with no surcharge. Licence Note
An automatic licence restricts the holder to automatic transmission vehicles only. Consider manual tuition if you want the broadest driving freedom.

If work, study or family make daytime lessons hard, you can book early mornings, evenings and weekends on any package or course. The lesson is the same, whatever the time.

Pay As You Go means one lesson at a time, with no commitment. Each two-hour session can follow our syllabus or focus on one thing you want to work on, whether it is your very first drive or a last polish before your test.
Introductory pricing for new students on the first session:
Introductory pricing is limited to one session per new student. All subsequent lessons revert to the standard rate.
Already hold a full licence? Full UK and international licence holders looking to knock the rust off should choose our Refresher Lessons instead. It is the same tuition, shaped around drivers rather than learners.

Refresher Lessons are for people who can already drive but want their confidence back: full UK licence holders returning after years away, international licence holders getting used to London's roads, and anyone whose driving has gone rusty. There is no starting from scratch. You work on the situations you find hard, from busy roundabouts and lane discipline to parking and night driving.

3 Hours · Three West London start points
This three-hour session is for learners with a test booked, or anyone who wants an honest view of how ready they are. It starts from one of three points: Queen's Park, Fulham (by Craven Cottage) or Shepherd's Bush (just off Uxbridge Road). Your instructor confirms which one once your booking is confirmed.

3 Hours · Genuine DVSA Test Areas
This three-hour session follows the same structured format as the standard Mock Test Package but is conducted within genuine DVSA test areas. It starts with an assessment and warm-up, then two full mock tests (one following road signs, one following a sat nav), each with a briefing and a debrief. Not suitable for complete beginners.

Existing Students Only
Available exclusively to existing West London Driving School students. Includes a pre-test warm-up of 1.5 to 2 hours, use of a fully insured dual-controlled vehicle for the practical test, and a managed return journey.

Experienced Drivers · Short Notice
For experienced drivers who are close to test standard but require a vehicle at short notice. A mandatory two-hour pre-test assessment lesson must be completed before any test day arrangement is confirmed.
The assessment checks your standard, spots any safety concerns, and decides whether you can take the test in the instructor's car. If you are not test-ready, you pay only the assessment fee and the rest is refunded in full.

Includes collection, a 1.5 to 2-hour warm-up, fully insured dual-controlled vehicle, and managed return journey. Assessment should be scheduled well ahead of the test date.

3 Hours · Central London to Oxford round-trip
A supervised session of at least three hours providing structured, real-world motorway experience. We usually head towards Oxford on the M40, about 56 miles from Central London. We may not reach Oxford: the aim is motorway practice for the time booked, then the drive back.
Key areas covered:
Suited to newly qualified drivers and learners approaching test standard.
Running over: motorway traffic is unpredictable. If the session runs past its scheduled time there is a 30-minute grace period at no extra charge; beyond that, the extra time needed to get back to the starting point is charged at £47.50 per hour. The two-hour duration shown at booking is a calendar placeholder only.

A fully personalised programme for learners who want to progress quickly toward their practical test. Sessions run 4 to 5 days per week in 2 to 4-hour blocks, typically across 2 to 5 weeks.

A nationally recognised post-test course delivered across two 3-hour sessions. Covers six DVSA modules designed to build real-world confidence after passing your test.

For existing WLDS students, sessions are typically focused on motorway, night-time, and rural road driving. A completed Pass Plus form is provided upon completion for DVSA submission. West London Driving School can post the form on your behalf if preferred.
Some insurers accept it as evidence of extra training, which can lower your premium.
