Learn on the roads you actually live with — the one-ways of the Ladbroke estate, Notting Hill Gate at rush hour, and the narrow streets where parked cars leave a single car’s width. DVSA-approved instructors, manual and automatic, patient by principle.
Your first 2-hour lesson is from £75 if you’re new to driving on a UK provisional licence — and you can book your first driving lesson online in about two minutes: pick your instructor, date and time.

Notting Hill is a proper teaching ground. Almost every street here is 20mph, and the mix of narrow Victorian terraces and busy main roads builds judgement, not just car control — which is exactly what examiners mark.
The residential streets off Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Grove are parked on both sides, leaving one car’s width. You learn to read gaps early, hold back, and take your turn calmly — the judgement skill London tests lean on hardest.
Multi-lane roads, bus lanes and lane discipline where the A-roads meet. Get your positioning right here and any test-route dual carriageway feels straightforward.
On Saturdays Portobello Road closes for the market and the streets around it fill up; late August brings Carnival’s road closures. Lessons plan around both — and calmly re-planning a route is itself a test skill.
Most schools assign you whoever is free. Here you choose: read each instructor’s profile, pick manual or automatic, and see their real availability before you book. You keep the same instructor lesson to lesson, so nobody re-learns your progress from scratch.
The full licence — pass in a manual and you can drive anything. Taught in dual-controlled cars by instructors who teach clutch control on real West London hills, not car parks.
Manual lessons in detailNo clutch, no stalling — many learners reach test standard sooner. A strong choice for city driving, and the licence most new cars will need anyway.
Automatic lessons in detailLessons start from your door, work or college in and around Notting Hill. If you’re on the edge of the area and unsure, ask on WhatsApp and you’ll get a straight answer.

From your door in W11. First lessons usually begin on the quieter residential streets towards North Kensington or Holland Park — away from Notting Hill Gate’s traffic — and build up from there as your control does.
No — there’s no test centre in Notting Hill itself. London practical tests happen at centres like Isleworth, Greenford, Pinner, Hendon, Mill Hill and Wood Green. Your instructor recommends the right centre for you and teaches on its actual routes — see our test areas page.
Yes — they just route around it. Portobello Road closes to traffic for the Saturday market and the surrounding streets get busy, so weekend lessons plan their routes accordingly. The same goes for Carnival weekend in late August.
