Driving in W12

What driving in Shepherd’s Bush teaches you

W12 puts three sorts of road side by side, which is precisely what a learner needs: quiet streets to get the basics right, busy junctions to test them, and a big gyratory in between.

Shepherd’s Bush Green

The Green is a large gyratory with roundabouts in quick succession and box junctions. Reading it early and choosing your lane in good time is exactly what it teaches. Locals avoid walking it; you learn to drive it calmly.

Westfield, Wood Lane & the Westway

Around Westfield and White City the West Cross Route (A3220), Wood Lane (A219) and the A40 Westway meet: fast, multi-lane roads that reward planning your exit well ahead. Traffic here is heavy, so timing and patience matter.

The quiet streets by the Scrubs

Braybrook Street and the roads near Wormwood Scrubs are calm and low-speed: the right streets for a first lesson, the manoeuvres and some confidence before the Green.

Your driving instructor in Shepherd’s Bush

You see who covers your postcode before you book

Put W12 into the guided booking and the instructors who cover W12 list first, showing the hours they truly have spare. You choose one and keep them all the way to your test. Prefer a female instructor? Mention it on WhatsApp or at booking and we match you where we can: here is how that works.

Manual lessons

The licence for everything. A dual-controlled car, clutch work on the calm streets by the Scrubs, and a syllabus in your student portal. Your instructor can log what you’ve done, though some keep their own records instead.

Manual lessons in detail

Automatic lessons

No clutch to manage on the High Road and nothing to stall at the lights. Same £47.50 an hour as manual, and a popular choice across NW London.
