North-West London is not the gentlest place to learn. It has the North Circular, the A5 through Kilburn and Colindale, the hills of Hampstead and Mill Hill, and the junctions around Brent Cross. An automatic takes gear changes and stalling out of the picture, so the hard parts get your whole mind.
Hampstead, Mill Hill and the climb up from Golders Green are where manual learners stall with a queue behind them. In an automatic a hill start is a foot on the brake and a foot on the accelerator, and the lesson moves on to what actually matters: observation and position.
Kilburn High Road, the Edgware Road and the North Circular around Brent Cross are all crawl-then-go. With no clutch to work, you keep your eyes up and your following distance sensible instead of hunting for the biting point every twenty metres.
Both North-West London test centres are on our list. Once your test is booked with the DVSA, lessons are planned around that centre, and the booking wizard offers a mock test there in the automatic you have been learning in.

No. Everything you have learned about observation, junctions, roundabouts and manoeuvres carries straight over. Book the £85 “had lessons before” first lesson, tell your instructor where you got to, and you pick up from there.
